Headspace – What Is It and Why It’s Great

Headspace is a meditation app which has greatly helped me overcome lots of different aspects of life that I find hard or uncomfortable and for 10 minutes of my day it’s been a lifesaver.

Meditation I agree isn’t for everyone but I can honestly say that Headspace allows you to meditate in a way which is accessible for everyone.

To begin with you need to complete the 30 day basic pack to start your meditation to then go on to do the more specialist packs and remember it’s a journey not a race!

With many different packs of guided meditation sessions on how to use meditation for health issues, sporting performance, happiness and even how to be brave, there’s plenty to offer everyone. Alongside all the packs , which have 10 to 30 sessions within them, Headspace also offers one off single sessions for when you need help there and then. These singles include SOS moments, good morning and good night, home and work and trying to unwind.

One of the many reasons why I love headspace are the videos and descriptions on how it works. It’s very science based with evidence on how and why it works, it’s not scary to try and it’s very relatable.

I love the style of animations they used throughout the app too.

When I started my Headspace journey, I downloaded the app for free and used the free 30 days to do the starter pack of 10 minutes a day for 30 days to set the ground work on how to mediate – it’s a lot harder than I thought!

After the 30 days I left it a while before signing up as I thought, well I’ve done 30 days I can just carry on, it can’t be that hard, but it just didn’t work out for me as I struggle to mediate alone without guidance. I then found out I could bundle my Headspace with my Spotify account half price so for Β£14.99 a month I had both.

I have found after many months use I am able to use the techniques that Andy (the voice of Headspace) has taught me to help me deal with situations I find difficult which has resulted in a calmer, happier me.

p.s Let me know down in the comments if you have tried this or any other meditation!

Personally I have used this app to help me through my PTSD and anxiety and have found it very very helpful but of course always see your GP , talk to friends and family and seek professional help if your worried about your mental health.

I love headspace, with no specific emotional issues I still find it helps me focus in on what is important in life πŸ™‚
